The photo at right is one of five fireplaces that were created by Cornerstone Architectural Products for just such a project in Ipswich, Massachusetts. This was a ‘see thru’ design; 25 feet tall and wrapping around to the mantel in an adjacent room. The Florence II was the starting focal point, a mantel that features carved acanthus leaves on the legs and a robust mantel shelf with rosettes and floral accents. A custom overmantel was added above. All components were cast in a traditional buff color with an etched limestone finish.

Laine M. Jones AIBD, the architect for the project, had this to say:

We have five fireplaces in this home covered with Cornerstone facings as well as the stove enclosure. The rooms involved are anchored by the product, as the fireplaces became focal points. The ability to manipulate this material to look like many various other materials is a huge asset. Other advantages of this product include the expensive “Olde World” look, reasonable price point, versatility, colorfastness and quick installation. Using this product allowed me to create a dramatic, high-end look with the proper scale to compliment the large spaces and heavy detail of this particular project.
